§ 54-341. Illegal carrying of weapons.

  • (a)

    It shall be unlawful for any person to commit the crime of illegal carrying of weapons. Illegal carrying of weapons is the intentional concealment or attempted intentional concealment on one's person of any firearm or other instrumentality customarily used or intended for probable use as a dangerous weapon.

    (b)

    The provisions of this section shall not apply to duly appointed law enforcement officers or any other person duly authorized to carry concealed weapons.

    (c)

    Whoever commits the crime of illegal carrying of a weapon shall be subject to a mandatory sentence of not less than three nor more than six months in jail and, at the discretion of the court, a fine of $500.00. The mandatory jail term shall not be suspended. The clerk of the municipal court shall keep a separate log or registry of the disposition and explanations for disposition of all prosecutions for violation of this section and shall report thereon to the city council and the superintendent of police on a quarterly basis.
