§ 26-192. Ventilation in habitable spaces.
(a)
Every habitable space shall have at least one openable window to provide natural ventilation. The total openable area of the window in every room shall be equal to at least 45 percent of the minimum glazed area required in section 26-189.
(b)
When rooms and spaces without openings to the outdoors are ventilated through an adjoining room, the unobstructed opening to the adjoining room shall be at least eight percent of the floor area of the interior room or space, but at a minimum of 25 square feet. The ventilation openings to the outdoors shall be based on the total floor area being ventilated.
(c)
A window need not be openable when a mechanical ventilation system is provided and is capable of providing one cubic foot of fresh air per one square foot of floor area for the room being ventilated.
