§ 154-1522. Dimensions.

  • Except by permit as provided in section 154-1524, no truck, tractor, or trailer shall be operated on the streets of the city if the following are exceeded:

    (1)

    Width; projecting loads on vehicles.

    a.

    The width of any vehicle shall not exceed eight feet, except that the width of a bus or school bus shall not exceed eight feet, six inches.

    b.

    The load on any vehicle shall not project more than six inches beyond the width of its body.

    (2)

    Height. The height of any vehicle shall not exceed 13 feet, six inches.

    (3)

    Length.

    a.

    The length of a single vehicle, truck, or truck-tractor shall not exceed 35 feet.

    b.

    The length of a single two-axle or three-axle bus shall not exceed 40 feet.

    c.

    The length of any combination of vehicles shall not exceed 65 feet.

    d.

    No combination of vehicles shall consist of more than two vehicles, except that combinations of truck-tractor and two trailers, truck-tractor and two semitrailers, or truck tractor, semitrailer, and trailer are permitted.

    e.

    No vehicle, truck, truck-tractor, or trailor with an overall or combined length in excess of 36 feet shall be allowed in the Vieux Carré except as provided in section 154-1524. As used in this section, Vieux Carré is defined as the area included within the downriver curb of Esplanade Avenue, the riverside curb of North Peters Street, the riverside curb of Decatur Street, between St. Louis Street and Dumaine Street, the downriver curb of Canal Street and the riverside curb of North Rampart Street.

    (i)

    When traveling or parking on streets in the Vieux Carré, no motor truck, tractor, or trailer shall drive or park on the sidewalk or curb.
