§ 14-40. Examination of places of public resort; prevention of accidents.

The mayor and the department of safety and permits, as often as they may deem it necessary, shall examine whether theatres and places of public resort are constructed with the requisite solidity and carefully kept in repair, so that the public may assemble there without danger. They shall adopt suitable measures to prevent accidents that might occur from any negligence in that respect on the part of the proprietors, tenants or other persons having the management or direction of such theatres or places of public resort.
