§ 4-801. Functions.

The Department of Sanitation, headed by a Director of Sanitation, shall:

(1)

Provide for the collection and disposal of garbage and other refuse, either directly or by contract.

(2)

Provide for the management and operation of disposal facilities, either directly or by contract.

(3)

Clean the streets.

(4)

Enforce municipal, state, and federal laws and regulations for the keeping of streets, vacant lots and other places free from weeds and deleterious matter.

(5)

Enforce ordinances and state and federal laws and regulations involving solid waste.

(6)

Develop and implement integrated waste management plans.

(7)

Perform such other duties as are required by this Charter or assigned in writing by the Mayor.
