§ 94-39. City archives to preserve permanent records.

  • All materials referred to in section 94-37, along with any additional materials transferred permanently to the city archives by the provisions of sections 94-38, 94-40 and 94-41, shall be arranged, described, catalogued, and preserved by the city archives staff according to the standards of the archival profession. The city archives shall provide housing under archival conditions for records in its possession in such manner that those records, unless their use is restricted by law or regulation, are open to the public for research purposes. In no circumstances shall any city records be transferred to private individuals, to public or private collections, historical societies or museums, or to public or private colleges or universities.
