§ 90-37. Disposition of unclaimed property.

  • (a)

    All property not needed in evidence, remaining unclaimed for the period of 90 days in the possession of the department of police, shall be disposed of by the bureau of purchasing either by the sale of such property and the net proceeds thereof turned over to the board of trustees of the police pension fund or by allocating such property to the various departments of the city to be used by such departments.

    (b)

    No property shall be disposed of under this section until the department of police has advertised twice within 30 days in a newspaper published in the city that the department of police has within its possession the property to be disposed of. The advertisement shall describe the property and shall call upon the owner to present himself, prove ownership, and pay the accrued storage charges, as well as the cost of advertisement.
