§ 86-11. Subpoenas.
The executive director, on his own motion or on motion of the advisory committee, a duly-appointed hearing officer, or a party to a proceeding before the commission, shall have full authority, in addition to any authority granted by state law, to issue subpoenas to compel the appearance of persons, the giving of sworn testimony, and the production of documents. Whoever fails or refuses to comply with a subpoena issued by the executive director that has not been quashed or modified by a civil court of competent jurisdiction shall be guilty of a misdemeanor. Nothing in this section shall be construed to deny any person of a right secured by the constitution of the state or of the United States.
