§ 70-416. Advertised specifications for certain work to call for payment of minimum wages.

  • The advertised specifications for every contract in excess of $25,000.00, to which the city is a party, for construction, alteration or repair, including painting and decorating, of public buildings or public works of the city, which requires or involves the employment of mechanics or laborers, shall contain a provision listing each job classification and stating specifically the minimum wages to be paid to the various classes of workmen, laborers and mechanics to be employed on the job, based on wages that will be determined by the Secretary of the United States Department of Labor, to be the prevailing wages for the corresponding classes of laborers and mechanics employed on projects in the city of a character similar to the contract work to be performed. Prevailing wages listed in the specifications must be obtained from the appropriate source within 30 days before the specifications are advertised or publicized, and the contract must be signed within 90 days thereafter.
