Division 7. POLICE ASSET SEIZURE FUND |
§ 70-211. Established.
(a)
There is hereby established, in conformity with section 6-201 of the City Charter, a police asset seizure fund, which shall receive funds forfeited from and by federal, state and/or city civil and/or criminal courts resulting from seizures of assets of narcotics violators, which shall be utilized only as a budget enhancement and not as a budget offset for public purposes and which shall further the needs and accomplishments of the police department.
(b)
The fund hereby established shall be administered by the director of the department of finance and shall be kept in an interest-bearing account with interest accruing to the benefit of and to become a part of the fund.
(c)
Conditional donations to the fund shall be reviewed by the board of city trusts as required by section 5-402 of the City Charter.
(d)
Expenditures from the fund shall be made only pursuant to an appropriation by the city council.
