§ 62-100. Mass casualty or disaster exception.

    In the event of a mass casualty incident within Orleans Parish, the Director of New Orleans EMS or his or her designee shall coordinate any medical response deemed appropriate to minimize loss of life and human suffering. A mass casualty incident is an event with critical injuries or deaths exceeding the normal response capability of New Orleans EMS.

    (2)

    In the event of any disaster declared by the mayor, or where additional resources are required, all resources provided in response to such a request will fall under the direction of the City of New Orleans Unified Command, the Deputy Mayor for Public Safety, the Director of New Orleans EMS, the Incident Commander, or his or her designee. Decisions to suspend provisions of this chapter may only be made by the mayor pursuant to R.S. 29:727(F)(1).
