§ 54-483. Eviction without due process.

  • (a)

    It shall be unlawful for an owner of immovable property, his agent or authorized representative who has a legal right, to evict a lessee or occupant for nonpayment of rent or other cause, unless the owner, agent or authorized representative, shall first cause written notice to vacate the premises to be delivered to the lessee or occupant. Such notice shall allow the lessee or occupant not less than five days from the date of delivery to vacate the premises. If the whereabouts of the lessee or occupant are unknown, the notice shall be delivered or served by securely attaching same to the door of the premises of the place to be vacated.

    (b)

    Any person who shall violate the provisions of this section shall upon conviction thereof be punished by a fine of not less than $50.00 nor more than $100.00 or by imprisonment of not less than 15 days, nor more than 90 days or both.
