§ 34-15. Truck parades.

  • All truck parades shall be subject to the following additional requirements:

    (1)

    No truck shall be more than 13 feet, six inches high, from ground at highest spot, nor wider than ten feet. No truck shall be longer than 70 feet.

    (2)

    No truck shall be more than 13 feet, six inches high, from ground at highest spot, nor wider than ten feet. Each truck shall be equipped with such safety equipment as required by state law.

    (3)

    They shall follow a route to be prescribed by the superintendent of police, which shall include a requirement that they proceed as directed by him and disband in the area or vicinity designated.

    (4)

    The interval between each truck shall be not less than 30 feet. No unauthorized vehicle shall be allowed to parade between the trucks.

    (5)

    The maximum number of trucks which may participate in the parade sponsored by the Elks Krewe of Orleanians shall be not more than 120 trucks. The maximum number of trucks which may participate in the parade sponsored by the Truck Parade of Crescent City shall not be more than 60 trucks.

    (6)

    Effective January 1, 2016, no generators will be allowed on truck floats. All electrical needs will be supplied by the use of extension cords connected to the power inverter in the cab pulling the truck float. Every truck float that uses extension cords to provide electrical service must meet the requirements of Chapter 6, sections 605.5, 605.6 and 605.9 of the International Fire Code.

    (7)

    Every truck float that uses permanent branch circuit wiring for 120-volt or 240-volt electrical source must comply with section 34-14 of this chapter.

    (8)

    All truck floats shall have sides or skirts built down on 12 inches from the street. Truck floats shall have attached fringe to block any view under the truck float.
