§ 30-1553. Requirements.

  • To be certified as a tour guide by the department of utilities, an applicant shall comply with the following requirements:

    (1)

    The applicant must receive a passing score on a written examination designed by the department of safety and permits, with the assistance of the Greater New Orleans Tourist and Convention Commission, and administered by the department of safety and permits or their approved testing agency. The written examination is designed to test the applicant's knowledge of the historical, cultural and sociological developments and points of interest of the city.

    (2)

    No person who has been convicted of a felony within five years preceding the date of application shall be permitted to receive a tour guide license.

    (3)

    A verbal examination and an interview by applicants may be required at the discretion of the department of safety and permits.
