§ 2-819. Severability of ordinances.
(a)
Unless otherwise specifically provided therein, the provisions of each ordinance of the council are severable, whether or not a provision to that effect is included in the ordinance. If any provision or item of an ordinance, or the application thereof, is held invalid, such invalidity shall not affect other provisions, items, or applications of the ordinance which can be given effect without the invalid provision, item, or application.
(b)
This section shall apply to ordinances of the council of general and specific application including but not limited to ordinances relating to this Code, the building code, the comprehensive zoning law, and the fire prevention code of the city.
