§ 1-13. General penalty; continuing violations.

  • Whenever in this Code or in any ordinance of the city any act is prohibited or is made or declared to be unlawful or an offense or whenever in this Code or any such ordinance the doing of any act is declared to be unlawful, when no specific penalty is provided therefor, the violation of any such provision of this Code or any such ordinance shall be punished by a fine not exceeding $300.00 or by imprisonment for not more than five months or both such fine and imprisonment. A provision for the revocation or refusal of a permit or other provision not imposing a fine or imprisonment shall not be deemed a provision for a specific penalty within the meaning of the foregoing sentence. Each day that any violation of any safety ordinance or regulation contained in this Code shall continue shall constitute a separate offense.
