§ 18-18. Fines and other penalties for violations.
(a)
Violations of this chapter shall be deemed to be violations of a public health and environmental ordinance; and shall be subject to civil administrative adjudication pursuant of chapter 6.
(b)
Any person who commits any act prohibited or omits the doing of any act required by this chapter for which a lesser penalty is not specifically prescribed herein, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof in the municipal court shall be liable for a fine not to exceed $500.00, and/or a term of imprisonment not to exceed six months, and/or community service and all costs associated with the feeding and keeping of the animals in section 18-56. In addition, the presiding judge may in his/her discretion impose any other sanction or take any action that he/she deems necessary for the protection of public health or safety or the well-being of any animal that is connected to the proceeding at hand.
