§ 166-31. Created; appointment; terms; vacancies.

  • (a)

    Established. There is hereby created a commission to be known as the Vieux Carré Commission of the city.

    (b)

    Recommendation and appointment of members. The Vieux Carré Commission shall consist of nine members, all of whom shall be citizens of the city. They shall be appointed by the mayor with the advice and consent of the council. The members of the commission shall be appointed by the mayor as follows: one from a list of two persons recommended by the Louisiana Historical Society; one from a list of two persons recommended by the Louisiana State Museum Board; one from a list of two persons recommended by the chamber of commerce of the city; three qualified architects from a list of six qualified architects recommended by the New Orleans Chapter of the American Institute of Architects and three at large.

    Term; vacancies. Each of the members of the Vieux Carré Commission shall be appointed for a term of four years. Whenever the term of a member of the commission expires the mayor shall appoint his successor from a list selected by the body which made the original selection from which the vacancy has occurred.
