§ 162-602. Renewal certificate required.

  • (a)

    No taxicab shall be operated on the streets of the city unless the owner of such vehicle has first applied for and received a CPNC qualifying a taxicab in the manner provided in this chapter; however, any person holding a CPNC issued by the city to transport passengers may transport passengers on an organized sightseeing tour into and within the city from any point beyond the boundaries of any parish contiguous to the city when such vehicle is accompanied by and under the direction of a guide holding a valid tour guide license.

    (b)

    It shall be unlawful for any person to transport or offer to transport passengers for hire in any taxicab which does not have affixed to the windshield thereof a valid for-hire vehicle renewal certificate issued at the for-hire vehicle inspection station under the auspices of the director of the department of safety and permits.
