§ 162-449. Taxicab driver's dress code.
(a)
In addition to the requirements provided in this chapter, every owner, and/or operator of any for-hire vehicle who possesses a CPNC and/or a valid chauffeur's license shall wear the following apparel and maintain the following grooming standards while transporting passengers for hire:
(1)
Male taxi drivers shall wear long pants, shirts with collars and sleeves, and shoes. Shoes shall be clean, closed-in and worn with socks. Hair, beards and/or moustaches shall be neat, trimmed and present a groomed appearance. Chauffeur's style caps may be worn.
(2)
Female taxi drivers shall wear long pants or skirts, shirts with collars and sleeves, and shoes. Shoes shall be clean, closed-in and worn with socks or stockings. Hair shall be neat, trimmed, and present a groomed appearance. Chauffeur's style caps may be worn.
(3)
Taxicab and carriage drivers may wear knee-length walking style shorts with a short sleeve or a polo shirt, white socks and a leather top shoe with a rubber sole with the approval of the line or company, during seasonal periods designated by the director of the department of safety and permits. Low cut, sleeveless shirts and tank tops shall not be worn. Cut-off jeans shall not be used. Sheer, transparent or fish net materials shall not be used for any apparel.
(b)
No owner and/or operator of any for-hire vehicle who possesses a CPNC and/or valid chauffeur's license shall, while transporting passengers for hire, wear sleeveless shirts, tennis shoes, sandals, slippers, jumpsuits or coveralls/overalls.
(c)
Failure to comply with the provisions of this section shall subject the owner and/or operator of the vehicle for hire to the penalties provided for in this chapter.
