§ 162-389. Correction slips for temporary use.

  • If a vehicle for hire fails to pass the requirements of the Bureau's inspection, a correction slip shall be issued to the driver listing the items that need correction and showing the status of the inspection. The vehicle shall not be operated as a vehicle for hire until it successfully passes inspection. The director of safety and permits may allow the temporary use of a vehicle which substantially complies with the inspection requirements for a period of time as set forth in the chart below. However, in no instance may the temporary use of a vehicle pending full compliance exceed 15 days.

     (2) Balding with thread showing Do not operate
    Windshield cracks:
     Cracks 12 inches or more 15 days to replace
     Unattractive, or safety hazard Do not operate
     Overall paint job 15 days
     Headliner 15 days
    Spare tire:
     (1) No spare tire in trunk Do not operate
     (2) Bald and improper thread Do not operate
     (3) Spare tire not inflated Have driver inflate right away
    Interior light or electrical problem:
     Non-functional mobile radio or computerized communication system Do not operate
     Malfunctioning driver safety equipment Do not operate
     Non-operational or non-compliant credit and debit card processing equipment or receipt printing device Do not operate
