§ 162-58. Prohibited vehicles.

  • (a)

    The director shall not issue CPNCs for motor vehicles to operate as for-hire vehicles to any vehicles according to the following:

    (1)

    Any vehicle which has ever been issued the title class of either "salvage", "rebuilt", "junk", "total loss," "reconditioned" or any equivalent classification in any jurisdiction is not eligible for operation as a for-hire vehicle.

    (2)

    Any vehicle which has been previously used as a taxicab or law enforcement vehicle, in any jurisdiction that has more than 150,000 miles, may not be placed in service as a for-hire vehicle.

    (b)

    It is the affirmative duty of the CPNC holder to ascertain that the for-hire vehicle is in compliance with this subsection.

    (c)

    Any vehicle placed in operation by a CPNC holder as a for-hire vehicle in violation of this subsection is unsafe, and subject to immediate CPNC suspension and or revocation.

    (d)

    The director may require CPNC holders to submit a car history report at the CPNC holder's expense.
