§ 154-1083. Designation of metered spaces.

  • (a)

    On public streets zoned for residential use under the comprehensive zoning ordinance of the city, the council shall approve the designation of any parking space as a metered space after a public hearing to be held 15 days after posting placards in the area being proposed for such designation, notifying the residents in the area of the proposal and of the public meeting thereon. The method or means of regulating any space so designated shall be at the discretion of the director of the department of public works.

    (b)

    On public streets zoned for commercial use under the comprehensive zoning ordinance of the city, the director of the department of public works shall cause to be installed, operated and maintained, metered spaces at such locations as designated by the director of the department of public works, without prior approval of the city council.

    (c)

    Any regulated parking space designated as a metered space under [subsection] (a) or (b) above, prior to January 1, 2005, shall continue and remain a metered space unless such designation is specifically altered by the council or the director of the department of public works in accordance with [subsection] (a) or (b) above.
