§ 154-868. Parking in a loading zone, freight only, or freight zone.

Latest version.
  • (a)

No person shall stop or park a vehicle for any purpose or period of time, other than for the expeditious loading and unloading of merchandise in any place signed as a loading, freight only, or freight zone. No vehicle shall remain in a loading zone, freight only, or freight zone when not actively loading or unloading unless the vehicle meets the definition of a delivery vehicle.

    (b)

The vehicle's primary purpose must be the transport and delivery of merchandise. If a vehicle meets the definition of a delivery vehicle, it will be allowed to remain in the loading zone, freight only, or freight zone, for 45 minutes. Taxicabs, when actually engaged in the transportation of merchandise, not passengers, will be allowed 25 minutes for the completion of the loading or unloading. This allotted time shall be used to complete the delivery of merchandise.

    (c)

Loading zones, freight only and freight zones may be used for the expeditious receiving or discharging of passengers when such stopping does not interfere with a vehicle waiting to enter, entering or using such zones for the loading or unloading of merchandise. Freight handling and service truck zones shall be used as loading zones, freight only, or freight zones when loading or unloading merchandise or as a service zone when performing repair of service work.
