§ 154-776. Impounding of unsafe vehicle.
When a vehicle is found to be in unsafe operating condition, the department of police shall impound such vehicle. The operating condition of such vehicle shall be determined by a brake inspector of the department of police. The vehicle will only be released on authority of a recognized mechanic that such vehicle will be placed in safe operating condition before being returned to the owner. Storage fees on such impounded unsafe vehicle will commence 72 hours after the vehicle has been impounded, such storage fees to be the same as for any other impounded vehicle. There will be no towing fee charge for such impounding.
