§ 154-607. Operation of miniature vehicles in Vieux Carré prohibited.

  • (a)

    It shall be unlawful to rent or lease to operate in the Vieux Carré of the city any vehicle which is considered to be a "minivehicle" under the provisions of this section.

    (b)

    A minivehicle for the purpose of this section is defined as follows:

    (1)

    Any three-or four-wheeled vehicle which is or may be powered by gasoline, diesel or electric motor which has been constructed on a scale smaller than the size of the vehicle as originally manufactured and of which it is a miniature reproduction capable of transporting passengers;

    (2)

    Any vehicles, having three or more wheels, bearing a seat, saddle or bench which is propelled or may be propelled by any variety of electromechanical or internal combustion powered means, excluding public utility vehicles and three- or more wheeled vehicles operated by ice cream vendors.

    (c)

    For the purpose of this section, the Vieux Carré is that area bounded by Iberville Street, North Rampart Street, Esplanade Avenue and the Mississippi River.

    (d)

    Whoever violates this section shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and shall be fined no more than $100.00, or imprisoned for not more than 30 days.
