§ 138-101. Equipment requirements for sanitary landfills.

  • (a)

    Adequate numbers, types and sizes of equipment sufficient for spreading, covering and compacting operations shall be provided on the sanitary landfill site.

    (b)

    Sufficient reserve equipment, or arrangements to provide alternate equipment within 24 hours following equipment breakdown, shall be provided by the operators of the sanitary landfill.

    (c)

    Suitable shelter and sanitary facilities shall be provided for personnel. Provisions for permanent or temporary shelter of adequate size, safe drinking water, sanitary handwashing and toilet facilities, electricity, heating facilities, and proper screens, shall constitute compliance with this section.

    (d)

    The working area of the site shall be equipped with a water line of no less than six inches diameter to provide an adequate supply of water under pressure to control fires. A stockpile of cover material shall be maintained on the site to control fires. Fire extinguishers in working order shall be kept on equipment and in all buildings.

    (e)

    This section shall not be construed to repeal, restrict or limit any requirements of the city's building code or fire prevention code.
