§ 138-45. Waste collection: commercial facilities, private contractors or businesses and multi-unit residential structures.

  • (a)

    The following locations are not eligible for service from the city and are responsible for contracting for private collection and disposal of solid waste:

    (1)

    Hotels.

    (2)

    Bars.

    (3)

    Restaurants.

    (4)

    Any location containing five or more units.

    (5)

    Any location within the French Quarter or Downtown Development District that generates more than 35 gallons of solid waste at each regular collection.

    (6)

    Any location outside of the French Quarter and Downtown Development District that generates more than 96 gallons of solid waste at each regular collection.

    (7)

    Unoccupied properties.

    Locations not eligible for city service shall comply with the provisions of section 138-58.

    (b)

    Any owner of a small business or residential property being repaired or constructed by private contractors shall be responsible for the removal and disposal of all bulky waste and construction and reconstruction debris generated from such work. No such waste or debris shall be placed curbside for collection by the city's service providers or placed on the neutral grounds.
