§ 114-68. Composition and terms.

  • A.

    The board of trustees shall consist of five members, as follows:

    1.

    The director of the department of finance of the city, ex officio;

    2.

    The director of personnel of the city, ex officio;

    3.

    One person who is domiciled in and an elector of the city, to be elected by the employee members of the system, to serve a term of three years;

    4.

    One person who is domiciled in and an elector of the city, to be elected by the retired members of the system, to serve a term of three years; and

    5.

    One person who is domiciled in and an elector of the city appointed by the mayor, subject to confirmation by the council, to serve a term of three years.

    B.

    The election of any member of the board shall be conducted by the director of personnel of the city. The election shall be held under such rules as shall be prescribed by the board, which shall provide for the use of mail-in ballots and for voting in such other manner as the trustees, from time to time, deem appropriate.

    C.

    If a vacancy occurs in the office of an elected or appointed member of the board, such vacancy shall be filled for the unexpired term in the same manner as the office was previously filled.

    D.

    The trustees shall serve without compensation, but they shall be reimbursed for all necessary expenses that they may incur on account of service as a member of the board.
